PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device wherein a potential fluctuation is not caused when the voltage applied to each scanning signal line is changed over from a selected scanning voltage to a non-selected scanning voltage. SOLUTION: This is a liquid crystal display device comprising plural pixels with pixel electrodes, plural scanning signal lines for applying selected scanning voltages or non-selected scanning voltages to the plural pixels, a liquid crystal display element having plural capacitance signal lines connected with the pixel electrode of each pixel via capacitance elements, and a scanning signal line driving means for sequentially supplying the selected scanning voltages to respective scanning signal lines, supplying the non-selected voltages to respective scanning signal lines when the selected scanning voltages are not supplied, and also supplying driving voltages to respective capacitance signal lines, and the scanning signal line driving means supplies a voltage to compensate for variation in potential caused on the pixel electrode of each pixel when the voltage applied to each scanning signal line is changed over to the non-selected scanning voltage from the selected scanning voltage in each capacitance signal line corresponding to each scanning signal line supplied with the non-selected voltage.
