PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an optical cable which may be manufactured at a low cost and allows easy taking out of lip cords and tearing off of a sheath and easy post branching work. SOLUTION: This optical cable 30 is constituted by housing optical fibers into a cylindrical body 22, constituted by bonding both transverse ends 22a and 22a of a belt-like material to each other by an adhesive tape 27 and forming a sheath 34 on the circumference of the cylindrical body 22. The optical cable 30, embedded with the two lip cords 36 and 36 in the sheath 34 so as to be symmetrical to each other with respect to the center of the optical cable 30, is provided.
