POLYPROPYLENE GLYCOL BONDED CHITOSAN DERIVATIVE AND PROCESS FOR PRODUCING THE SAME

PURPOSE: Provided is polypropylene glycol bonded chitosan derivative having solubility and excellent compatibility in skin and hair cosmetics, which is produced by grafting polypropylene glycol on an amino group or a hydroxy group of chitosan or partially deacetylated chitosan. CONSTITUTION: The polypropylene glycol bonded chitosan derivative is produced by grafting the polypropylene glycol on the amino group or the hydroxy group of the chitosan or the partially deacetylated chitosan having a deacetylation degree of 5-95% by a nucleophilic reaction in the presence of a strong alkali catalyst at a temperature of 50-80deg.C under a pressure of 1-10kg/cm¬2. The polypropylene glycol bonded chitosan derivative has a molecular weight of 500,000-5,000,000 and water-solubility of 1-100mg/ml. In the formula, Rchit is the chitosan or the partially deacetylated chitosan and has a molecular weight of 100,000-1,000,000 and n is an identical or different integer.
