<p>A honeycomb structural body (10) having a plurality of flow-through holes (11) formed by dividing the structural body with partition walls and passing in axial direction, wherein slits (12) are formed so as to be exposed to at least a part of an outer peripheral surface (13) along the axial direction of the structural body, whereby, because the parts of the honeycomb structural body are allowed to be deformed freely independently of each other, a thermal stress can be reduced and cracking is prevented from occurring even if a temperature distribution is nonuniform.</p> |
