A new family of aminoamidine derivatives is claimed, which are oil soluble and have good filtering properties for UV-A and UV-B radiation and thus protection from solar irradiation. Cosmetic compositions for external use, particularly for the protection of the skin and/or hair comprise at least one aminoamidine of formula (I), on a suitable cosmetic support: Ar1 = aromatic nucleus of formula (II) or (III); R1, R2, R3 = H, 1-8C alkyl or alkoxy, or together form an aromatic or heterocyclic ring with 5 or 6 members; Z = C or N; Ar2 i = aromatic nucleus as in Ar1 or a 5 atom aromatic nucleus (IV); Y = S, O, C or N ; W = C or N; R4 = (i) H, when W = N, or (ii) H, 1-8C alkyl or alkoxy , or an aromatic ring, when W = C; U = C or N, when W = C; R5 = (i) H when U = N, or (ii) H, 1-8C alkyl or alkoxy or an aromatic ring, when U = C; Ar3 = aromatic nucleus as defined by Ar2, or H. Independent claims are also included for the use of the aminoamidine derivatives and the compounds themselves. |
