PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To insert an end of a pipe for a bell-and-spigot joint into the pipe in the bell-and-spigot joint, and mechanically join the end of the pipe with the bell-and-spigot joint in installation of a steel pipe to be buried underground. SOLUTION: A coated layer 12 is formed on an outer circumferential surface of a main pipe 11, and a stopper ring 101 is fitted to an outer surface of the coated layer 12. The outside diameter of the stopper ring 101 is larger than the inside diameter of an end face 1a of a joint body 1. The length (2) in the axial direction of the allowable insertion at the bell-and-spigot joint A is larger than the length (1) (joint insertion) in the axial direction between the end face 11a of the main pipe and the stopper ring 101a ((1)<(2)). An annular groove 103 is annularly formed in the circumferential direction of the stopper ring 101 in the end face 101a of the stopper ring 101, and an annular projection part 104 having a stopper ring 8 and a seal member 9 disposed thereon is annularly formed in the circumferential direction of the joint body 1 in the end face 1a of the joint body 1. Sediment in the peripheral ground can be prevented from entering by joining the annular groove 103 with the annular projection part 104.
