VEHICLE SPEED MEASURING METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To measure the running speed of a vehicle to a low speed without causing any delay in the recognition of the variation of running speed by using a high-resolution vehicle speed sensor by reducing the number of vehicle speed conversion processing times. SOLUTION: When the count value of pulses generated from vehicle speed signals reaches N=8 before Ts=51 ms is exceeded ((e) and (f)), the running speed of a vehicle is measured based on the sum of the periods of generated pulses at and before N=8. When the count value of the generated pulses does not reach N=8 before Ts=51 ms is reached ((a)-(d)), the running speed of the vehicle is measured based on the count value of the generated pulses counted immediately after the Ts=51 ms is exceeded and the sum of the periods of the pulses generated until the count value is reached.
