A peptide comprising up to 10 amino acids including LVCYPQ (SEQ ID NO. 3, see specification), FRPRIMTP (SEQ ID NO. 4, see specification) or VDPP (SEQ ID NO. 6) and any other amino-acids are independently selected from Gly, Ala, Val, Leu, Ile, Nle, Nva, Pro, Phe, Tyr, Trp, Cys, Met, Ser and Thr. Such peptides are obtainable from porcine bone marrow cell culture, and are useful in the treatment or prophylaxis of a viral or bacterial infection or a disease requiring immunostimulation.
