PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cylinder mechanism with a damping device capable of reducing impacts and noises in the vicinity of a cylinder head and a cylinder bottom even if a piston runs away in an emergency, so as to reduce burdens on a rubber cushion. SOLUTION: The cylinder mechanism includes the piston 2 installed within the cylinder 1, motor shafts 5, 8 in threaded relationship with the piston 2, and a driving element 4 imparting rotation to the motor shafts 5, 8, the piston 2 being moved back and forth by rotation of the motor shafts 5, 8 caused by the driving element 4. The piston 2 is formed in a hollow shape. When the hollow shape is filled with a fluid that is either liquid or gas, the back-and-forth movement of the piston 2 causes an increase in fluid resistance of the fluid 7 as the fluid 7 approaches a fluid resistance plate 13 at the end of the motor shaft, on the forward or reverse side of the hollow shape.
