PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely engage a fishing line with an engaging part for the fishing line in the engaging part for the fishing line provided in a spool of a spinning reel. SOLUTION: This spool of the spinning reel is provided with the engaging part 70 for the fishing line L rearwardly protruded and formed into an annular shape so as to be concentric with a spool shaft 15. A groove part 71 is formed in the peripheral direction of a protruding part around which the fishing line L is wound in the engaging part 70 for the fishing line L by, e.g. cutting working. The fishing line L is prevented from slipping off by the rear wall part of the groove part 71. In this case, since the engaging part 70 for the fishing line L is protruded to the rear of a line winding drum 7a and integrally formed, the engaging part 70 for the fishing line L is readily formed. The fishing line L can surely be engaged with the engaging part 70 for the fishing line L by winding the fishing line L around the groove part 71 of the engaging part 70 for the fishing line L.
