The invention relates to a novel method for coating integrated auto body parts containing plastic parts or for cabins of passenger cars and utility vehicles during which the metal parts of the body or of the cabin are provided with an electrodeposition paint coating and are integrated with the plastic parts of the body or of the cabin. These plastic parts already have either an electrically conductive hydroprimer coating, a non-hardened electrically conductive hydroprimer coat, or they are unpainted. In the instance that the plastic parts are not provided with any of these coats, the surface of the integrated body or cabin is uniformly provided with an electrically conductive hydroprimer coating. A bright hydroprimer coat can be applied after a successive hardening of the electrically conductive hydroprimer coating or while the latter is still wet, and said bright hydroprimer coat can be hardened alone or together with the electrically conductive hydroprimer coat. In the instance that the plastic parts are already provided with a coat of this type, the surface of the integrated body or cabin is uniformly provided with a bright hydroprimer coating. A water-based coating is applied to these primer coats and dried thereon. A clear coating is applied in a wet-in-wet manner to the water-based coating, after which the water-based coating and clear coating are baked together, whereby resulting in the novel color-giving and/or effect-giving multilayer coating.
