PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a glass sheet in which residual stresses do not remain after cracking. SOLUTION: A precrack 3 is formed on a planned cracking line 7 in the same direction as a transporting direction in a temperature region below the softening point of a glass ribbon 1 and a cracking line 4 is progressed on the planned cracking line 7 from the precrack 3 as a start point by utilizing the thermal stress by a temp gradient in the transporting direction. The progression of the cracking line 4 is stopped in the softening point temperature region of the glass ribbon 1.
