PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a method and a device for picture communication which process the picture of a received compressed picture file like a JPEG file by proper main scanning length to resolve the problem that a received JPEG file cannot be decoded in the case that the main scanning size declared in the JPEG file is different from that declared in a communication protocol. SOLUTION: If the main scanning size declared in the received JPEG file is different from the one declared in the communication protocol in a step S301, the main scanning size declared in the JPEG file is validated in a step S304, thereby properly expanding and printing the JPEG file.
