PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an information recording medium capable of contributing to realize the reproduction of a mask to be reproduced while optional data are masked by providing an area where model data of a mask image for a user are recorded, in order that reproduction information in a period when the mask is designated is masked. SOLUTION: When a video object unit VOBU 85 includes video data, GOP (based on the MPEG standard) constituted of a video pack 88, a sub-video pack 90 and an audio pack 91 are arrayed to constitute a video data stream. Then mask data are recorded in the null area of the area where sub-video data corresponding to reproduction information (main video data) during a period when the user has designated the mask are recorded. Thus, when reproduction information of the period when the mask is designated is reproduced, mask reproduction is realized by mask data which are recorded in the null area of the area where sub-video data corresponding to the reproduction information are recorded.
