PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a picture processor which detects a fine line causing line cutting and executes processing for preventing line cutting based on the detecting result. SOLUTION: A picture processor 1 is provided with a fine line detector 20 and a line cutting preventing processing part 50. The part 20 contracts an original picture in a prescribed direction to generate a contracted picture, executes processing for thinning a specific density area in a direction (orthogonal direction) orthogonal to the prescribed direction concerning the obtained contracted picture to generate a first processed picture, and executes processing for thickening the specific density area in the orthogonal direction concerning the obtained first processed picture to generate a second processed picture. Then, it is possible to know the degree of the existence of a fine line by each pixel value of a difference picture generated by taking a difference between the contracted picture and the second processed picture. The part 50 is capable of selectively executing prescribed filter processing such as gradation in an area in which line cutting is likely to occur based on the detecting result of the fine line.
