PURPOSE: A control apparatus and a control method for a virtual reality simulation instrument are provided to control the speed and the direction of the virtual reality simulation instrument by using tapping action of user. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus(41) for controlling a virtual reality simulation instrument comprises a left and a right footboard(10) independently formed with each other. A left and a right elastic portion(11) are installed under both footboards respectively. A left detector(12a) and a right detector(12b) detect the falling of both footboards. All components as stated above are received on a base plate(10). If only left detector detects the motion of the footboard, an advance direction in the virtual reality simulation instrument is controlled to turn toward the left side. Also, if only right detector detects the motion of the footboard, the advance direction in the virtual reality simulation instrument is controlled to turn toward the right side. If all detector detects the motion of the footboards over a specific frequency, the virtual reality simulation instrument is accelerated in the advance direction. Also, If all detector detects the motion of the footboards below the specific frequency, the speed of the virtual reality simulation instrument is hold in the advance direction.
