A distributed network load system is provided to avoid local traffic congestion of communication paths in a wide-area network. In a system which distributes network load of data communications between a central computer and a plurality of remote nodes connected through a wide-area network, the central computer comprises means for determining the sequence of communications between the central computer and a plurality of remote nodes to avoid local traffic congestion of the communication paths in a wide-area network, means for determining the interval between communications carried out by consecutive remote nodes communicating with the central computer, and means for controlling data communications between the central computer and a plurality of remote nodes according to the sequence and interval determined.
