PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a desulfurizing method for molten iron, which is not only more excellent in desulfurization, but also has less trouble on the equipment in comparison with the conventional method and can execute stable operation. SOLUTION: In the desulfurizing method for the molten iron 1, by which a desulfurizing agent 3 is added into the molten iron held in a molten metal refining vessel 5 and also, an impeller 2 is dipped and rotated to stir the molten iron, the impeller is rotated while vertically moving in the molten iron. Further, the ratio of the outer diameter of the impeller and the inner diameter of the molten metal refining vessel is desirably 1/10-2/3.
