PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a phosphate ion-adsorbing medicine which does not have a side effect, has a sufficient phosphate ion-adsorbing action, and is useful for prophylaxis and/or treatment of hyperphosphatemia by including a specific non-cross-linked anion exchange resin. SOLUTION: This medicine for prophylaxis and/or treatment of hyperphosphatemia contains a non-cross-linked anion exchange resin of the formula [R1 is a 7 to 10C aralkyl, a 1 to 20C alkyl; R2 and R3 are each a 1 to 4C alkyl; R4 is H or a lower alkyl; X- is a physiologically acceptable counter ion; (n) is 1 to 3; (p) is an average polymerization degree of 10 to 50,000] [for example, poly(acryloyloxyethyl-N,N-dimethyl-N-benzylammonium chloride)]. For example, when prepared as a medicine composition for oral administration, such as tablets, the phosphate ion-adsorbing medicine preferably contains the compound of the formula in an amount of 25 to 90 wt.%. When the phosphate ion-adsorbing medicine is used as a medicine for preventing and/or treating hyperphosphatemia, the phosphate ion-adsorbing medicine is generally administered at a daily dose of 1 to 60 g as the compound of the formula for an adult one or several portions a day.
