PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transfer method capable of transferring a toner image on to a transfer material without using a separation charger such as an AC charger, etc., in a method for transferring the toner image from a photoreceptor drum surface to the transfer material surface by using a transfer charger. SOLUTION: As for the transfer method, the transfer charger 5 is arranged facing the surface of the photoreceptor drum 1, and the toner images 15 and 16 which are formed by developing the electrostatic latent image on the surface of the photoreceptor drum 1 are transferred from the surface of the photoreceptor drum 1 to the surface of the transfer material while corona-charging the rear side of the transfer material 10 by the transfer charger 5 so as to have a potential whose polarity is opposite to the electrified toner polarity, and at least, a contact type charger constituted of a conductive member extending all over the width direction of the passing transfer material is arranged near the upstream side of the transfer charger 5 in a transfer material carrying direction, and also, the toner image is transferred by making the transfer material 10 pass through a gap between the photoreceptor drum 1 and the transfer charger 5 after bringing the rear side of the transfer material 10 in contact with the conductive member 30 while keeping the conductive material 30 so as to have the potential whose polarity is the same as that of the toner image.
