<p>In a method of managing medical specimens in which a unique identifier is assigned to a specimen (22), a record of the specimen is created and associated with the unique identifier and an identification of a patient from whom the specimen was taken (24). At least one label is permanently affiliated with the specimen. The record of the specimen is accessed by scanning the label. Information about the specimen and a diagnostic determination based on the specimen is added to the record of the specimen (26).</p> |
