PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the coiling pitch of a wire from being fluctuated with respect to a reel when the rotating direction of the reel and a moving direction of a traverser are converted, and the traveling direction of the wire is inverted from the uncoiling side to the coiling side. SOLUTION: This wire saw feeds a new wire 18 while inverting the traveling direction of the wire 18, and the wire 18 uncoiled from reels 25, 26 is circulated through traversers 31, 32 between a plurality of working rollers 15, 16, 17, and coiled through the traversers 32, 31. The moving speed of the traversers 31, 32 is controlled in relation to the rotational speed of the reels 25, 26. In inverting the traveling direction of the wire 18, the moving speed of the traversers 31, 32 with respect to the reels 25, 26 on the coiling side is changed so as to be higher than the controlled speed for a specified period immediately after the wire traveling direction is inverted. |
