PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a composition having excellent oxygen-scavenging ability, useful for maintaining and recovering human health and capable of being expected to have a wide uses as a raw material for cosmetics, medicines and foods by containing an extract of Rhinacanthus nasuta (L.) Kurz) with water or an organic solvent. SOLUTION: This composition having active oxygen-scavenging ability contains an extract (A) of Rhinacanthus nasuta (L.) Kurz with water or an organic solvent as an effective ingredient. E.g. the component A is obtained by extracting any one of the total plant, leaves, stems, branches, roots of Rhinacanthus nasuta (L.) Kurz or their mixture by using an organic solvent such as ethanol, dimethyl ether, acetone or hexane in normal temperature or in a heated state to obtain an extract, which is purified by filtration, centrifugal precipitation, etc., and distilled off to dryness, lyophilized, etc. |
