摘要

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To retain uniformity in film thickness in a display area by suppressing a liquid alignment layer materiafrom from soaking into a sealing material application area on the outer periphery of the display area.

SOLUTION: A first alignment layer external edge regulating section Z1 which is arranged on an end of a gate edge a of a substrate SUB1 to mount a scanning signal line driving circuit chip, inside the sealing material application area SL, and in the vicinity of the outer periphery of the display area DA comprises a recessed groove GV opening on a second insulating layer PAS2, and a transparent electrode TE covering the recessed groove GV. The transparent electrode TE is connected to a common bus line CBL on the bottom of the recessed groove GV. A second alignment layer external edge regulating section Z2 which is formed inside the sealing area SL and on a section closer to the sealing area SL than the first alignment layer external edge regulating section Z1 comprises slits ST which are formed on the transparent electrode TE in a direction parallel to the sealing material application area SL. The wetting and spreading of the liquid alignment layer material is intercepted with the first alignment layer external edge regulating section Z1 and the second alignment layer external edge regulating section Z2.
