摘要 <p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To retain uniformity in film thickness in a display area by suppressing a liquid alignment layer materiafrom from soaking into a sealing material application area on the outer periphery of the display area. <P>SOLUTION: A first alignment layer external edge regulating section Z1 which is arranged on an end of a gate edge a of a substrate SUB1 to mount a scanning signal line driving circuit chip, inside the sealing material application area SL, and in the vicinity of the outer periphery of the display area DA comprises a recessed groove GV opening on a second insulating layer PAS2, and a transparent electrode TE covering the recessed groove GV. The transparent electrode TE is connected to a common bus line CBL on the bottom of the recessed groove GV. A second alignment layer external edge regulating section Z2 which is formed inside the sealing area SL and on a section closer to the sealing area SL than the first alignment layer external edge regulating section Z1 comprises slits ST which are formed on the transparent electrode TE in a direction parallel to the sealing material application area SL.
