PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent accidents, such as an abnormal heating, igniting or the like of short-circuited single cells by disassembling assembled batteries from a parallel connection state, connecting the serial circuit of the single cells to a serially connected state and connecting it to a charger, when charged in the assembled batteries having a series circuit in which single cells connected in series to be connected in parallel and connected to a load. SOLUTION: Terminals 12, 13 are respectively provided at positive electrodes side and negative electrodes side of series circuits 11, and single-pole single- throw switches 14 are provided between adjacent series circuits 11. When assembled batteries are connected to a load, the switches 14 group are closed so that all the series circuits 11 turn into a parallel connected state, and a load is connected to the terminals 12, 13. In charging of the assembled batteries, all the switches 14 group are opened, the circuits 11 are disassembled from the parallel connected state, and the circuits 11 are provided independent. Single cells 10 turn into states for constituting single series circuits 11. A charger 30 is connected to the terminals 12, 13 to charge the cells 10. Thus, even if an internal short-circuit of the single cell takes place at charging, serious accidents can be prevented.
