[Class 39 (i)] [Also in Group XI] A source of yellow light comprises in combination, a discharge device emitting the lowpressure mercury spectrum, a luminescent material excited by the discharge to emit red or orange light, and a yellow filter through which pass both the primary light from the discharge and the secondary light from the luminescent material. The material may be cadmium silicate with manganese impurity and may be on the interior of the discharge envelope. The yellow filter may be a uranium glass envelope containing cadmium, or a coating on the inside or outside of the envelope ; or it may be independent of the discharge device. |
