PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it unnecessary to simultaneously satisfy optical requests for two different beams generated by a single head light. SOLUTION: In order to reflect beams, an elliptical head light for an automobile for generating a low beam and a high beam comprises: a light source 10 in cooperation with a reflector 20; a lens 30 for emitting beams toward a road; and a movable mask 40 for emitting a cut-off beam via the lens 30 in a shielding position while emitting a not-cut-off beam via the lens 30 in a non-shielding position or an intruding position. In this method, the reflector 20 includes a first reflecting region 20a for reflecting a first beam which cannot be shielded even if the movable mask is located in the shielding position, and a second reflecting region 20b for reflecting a second beam. Most of the second beam is shielded when the movable mask 40 is located in the shielding position. These two beams are different from each other in orientation sideways of an irradiating direction (y-y). |
