<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable the simple and easy processing of contact lenses in compliance with the individual data of users by cutting off the outside surface of a lens preform formed of inside and outside surfaces of spherical surfaces to the prescribed spherical surfaces by irradiation with a laser beam. SOLUTION: A forming die 30 consisting of a lower die 31 and an upper die 41 having forming die surfaces 32 and 42 for the lens preform 10 of the spherical surface shape approximated to the surface shape of the eyeball is used. Liquid-like contact lens raw material M is poured into the molds surface 32 of the lower die 31 and the upper die 41 is lowered to compress the raw material M by its die surface 42. The lens preform 10 of a prescribed thickness having the inside and outside surfaces 12 and 11 of the prescribed spherical surface shape is formed by compression. The resultant lens preform 10 is cut off to the prescribed spherical surface by the irradiation with the laser beam, by which the prescribed contact lens is obtained. The irradiation of the lens preform 10 with the laser beam is executed in order to cut off the lens preform 10 formed to the approximate shape of the contact lens according to the design data of the desired contact lens.</p> |
