Method of simultaneous testing of at least two packs of control rods and apparatus for making the same

The proposed method of simultaneous testing of at least two control rod clusters (125) within a reactor vessel (10) is carried out in such a manner that at least two control rod clusters (125) are retracted from the reactor vessel (10), then simultaneous fall of at least two packs (125) of control rods down in the reactor vessel (10) is caused, whereby simultaneously with the fall of the two control rod clusters (125) into the reactor vessel (10) a signal representing of fall time of each control rod clusters (125) is evaluated by calculating the time of the beginning of the fall attenuation and total time thereof and for each control rod cluster (125) a fall time profile is created. The apparatus for making the method has a control rod drive mechanism (90) being attached to the control rod clusters (125), a means for supply of electrical power to said control rod drive mechanism (90) a rod position indicator (120) attached to said control rod drive mechanism for monitoring the position of said control rod clusters (125), a computer (170 operatively connected to said rod position indicator (120) and receiving a signal representing the fall time of each control rod cluster (125) for generating an elapsed time profile of all said control rod clusters (125) falling into the reactor vessel (10).
