Process for the production of particulate, highly porous polymer adsorbents (I) comprises radical dispersion or suspension polymerization of a monomer mixture comprising 2-80 wt.% divinylbenzene, ethylvinylbenzene and other monomers in the presence of a polymerization initiator and 0.5-100 vol. % of at least one inert organic substance (II) with defined solubility parameters. An Independent claim is included for the polymer (I).
