PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new compound having selective antagonistic activities against AMPA receptor of non-NMDA receptor, hardly exhibiting side effects possessed by a medicine having the NMDA receptor-antagonistic activities, and useful for therapy of cranial nerve cell damage of the like. SOLUTION: This new compound is the compound of formula I A is a single bond or CH2; Y is N or =CH-; V is a single bond or CH2; T is OH, formula II [X is O or S; W is a (substituted) phenyl or the like] or the like; R is nitro or the like; R1 is OH or a lower alkoxy}, e.g. 1,2-dihydro-7-nitro-2- oxo-6- 4-[(phenylcarbamoyloxy)methyl]imidazol-1-yl}quinoline-3-carboxylic acid. The compound of formula I can be obtained by reacting a compound of formula III [R2 is a (halogen-substituted) lower alkyl or the like; T1 is OH or an amino] with a compound of the formula Z-N=C=Xa [Z is a (substituted) phenyl or the like; Xa is O or S], (e.g. phenyl isocyanate) to provide a compound of formula IV, and hydrolyzing the obtained compound of formula IV.
