PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently restrain a thermorunaway reaction on overcharging, to secure excellent safety, and to increase energy density. SOLUTION: This battery comprises a positive electrode 4 made of a material storing/releasing lithium ion, a negative electrode 3 made of a material storing/ releasing lithium ion, and electrolyte. Inside the battery, a metal member kept electrically in contact with the positive electrode material for staying at the equivalent potential to the positive electrode retains a material such as lithium carbonate which is oxidized and decomposed at a potential 0.2 to 1 V higher than a potential of the positive electrode at fully charged. |
