PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a tape cassette in which a reel lock mechanism acts smoothly and a pair of reels can be surely locked and released from the lock. SOLUTION: The tape cassette has a pair of reels 25 and 26 accommodated between an upper shell 23 and a lower shell 24 in a state with a magnetic tape 30 wound, a reel lock body 41 which is movable back and forth to the reels and is supported by the lower shell, a pair of reel lock elements 42 and 43 supported rotatably by the reel lock body, and a reel lock spring 44 with a pair of coil parts 44a and 44b loosely fitted to rotation center parts of the pair of reel lock elements. A pair of hook parts 50c and 50c are engaged and disengaged to a pair of engagement threads 25a and 26b by moving the reel lock body, thereby locking and unlocking the pair of reels 25 and 26 in the tape cassette. A coupling part 44c for coupling the pair of coil parts of the reel lock spring is bent towards the reel lock body, so that the reel lock body is pressed by a spring force of the coupling part.
