PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric reel designed to be hard to cause a leader breakage or fish mouth cut when a fishline is being reeled up. SOLUTION: This electric reel has a reel body 1 to be mounted on a fishing rod, a spool 10, a motor 12, a changeover switch SK, a torque sensor, a torque data memory area, and a reel control unit. The changeover switch SK is used for operating a stepwise control of the torque of the motor 12, the torque sensor has the function to detect the reeling torque acting on the motor 12, the reeling torque levels are set in plural tiers in the torque data memory area, and the reel control unit has the function to control the torque of the motor 12 in each step so that a reeling torque detected by the torque sensor according to the operation of the changeover switch SK does not exceed the corresponding reeling torque at each step set in the torque data memory area.
