<p>An optical disc apparatus includes a pickup (57) having an objective lens (78) provided with a shutter (83) protecting the lens from dust. The shutter is moved between exposing the lens (<B>fig. 10</B>) and covering the lens (<B>fig. 9</B>) by a moving mechanism which moves the shutter according to a feed mechanism (<B>59</B>). The feed mechanism moves the pickup radially to the disc (<B>D</B> and <B>C fig. 11</B>). An embodiment is included where the moving and feed mechanisms each constitute a rack connected with a common pinion (see figs. <B>12-14</B>). In another embodiment (see <B>figs. 1-8</B>), the rotational force to move the shutter is provided by the feed mechanism pushing the farthest end of the shutter, which is positioned on the opposite side of a turning shaft (<B>22</B> in <B>fig. 1</B>) from the lens, against a pressing shaft (<B>34</B> in <B>fig. 1</B>).</p> |
