SUBSTANCE: multiphase winding has phase coils connected in series with capacitors and resistors so that they set up electrically neutral voltage-resonance tuned circuits. Circuits are spaced ±(360/ϕ) apart, where ϕ is phase shift between currents in adjacent coils; they are interconnected in series or in parallel, or in series-parallel and supplied with power from single-phase source. Remaining circuits are shorted out and only inductively coupled with adjacent ones. Electromagnetic coupling alone between phase coils builds up uniform electromagnetic traveling field.
