PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an optical fiber amplifier in which a constant output can be obtained, and the wavelength dependency of the output can be prevented from changing even when an input level or the loss of a dispersion compensator is changed. SOLUTION: This optical fiber amplifier is provided with a light amplifying part constituted of an optical fiber type light amplifying medium 1, an heating element 7 which adds positive or negative heat quantity to the light amplifying medium, an excitation light source 3 which generates exciting lights to be applied to the light amplifying medium 1, and an optical multiplexing means 2 which multiplexes the exciting lights from the excitation light source 3 with signal lights, and introduces this to the light amplifying medium 1, and an optical demultiplexing means 5 which demultiplexes one part of the power of the signal light, and introduces this to a photodetector 6 which measures the optical power, and a control means 8 which controls the optical power generated by the excitation light source and the heat quantity generated by the heating element. |
