<p>A satellite mobile cellular telecommunications network includes a radio link between a satellite access node (SAN 1) and a user terminal (UT 1) via earth orbiting satellites (3a, 3b) over diverse paths. During a call, the radio link is subject to time varying transmission errors as a function of the relative movement of the satellites e.g. timing errors and Doppler shift. Compensation data messages are successively transmitted to the user terminal during the call, containing data to compensate for the errors. The radio path is timed-out at UT 1 if compensation messages are not successfully decoded within a predetermined period set by a timer (T1, T2). Control for the individual, diverse paths is provided.</p> |
