PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reel for fishing having a fishing line-parallel winding device capable of stabilizing an engaging claw of a sliding element in a set direction. SOLUTION: This reel for fishing is characterized by having an engaging claw 28 of a fishing line-parallel winding device installed at a reel body and having a holding part 42 held by a claw part 44 and a sliding element, in which the tip end side of the claw part 44 becomes gradually narrow toward a traverse cum groove of the fishing line-parallel winding device and its outer surface is chamfered for protruding it outside.
