PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ultraviolet ray detector capable of enhancing conversion efficiency for converting from an ultraviolet ray to fluorescence to detect the ultraviolet ray with high accuracy. SOLUTION: The detector comprises a three-layer structure plate-like substance 10 where a plate-like fluorescent substance 11 converting an ultraviolet ray to fluorescent is placed at the center and layers 12, 13 encapsulating the fluorescent excited in the fluorescent substance 11 with penetration of the ultraviolet ray are placed respectively at a face and the other face of the substance 11, a metallic enclosure 14 placed at surroundings of the substance 10 in an end face direction of the substance 10 as a shading substance, an optical fiber 15 propagating the fluorescent converted by the substance 10 where an end part of the fiber 15 is placed opposed to a through hole 14a formed in the enclosure 14 with an end face of the enclosure 14 opposed to an end part of the substance 10, and a light receiving element 16 receiving the fluorescent propagated by the fiber 15.
