PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a work position control method which can easily describe an NC program without being conscious of the position of a work with respect to a machine tool which changes the position of a work bench to position a spindle against the work. SOLUTION: The machining positions (px, py, pz) of a work W are specified according to the virtual work coordinates X' and Z' even though a work bench 13 turns around a shaft 20. When an inherent work coordinate XZ set on the basis of the work W is used for positioning a spindle 12, the orthogonal relation is kept between a work fixing surface 14 and the spindle 12. A machining surface 51 cannot face the spindle 12. It is possible, however, to face the surface 51 to the spindle 12 when the bench 13 is turned around an axis y at an angleθA.
