PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermally expansible, heat-resistant coating which expresses an especially remarkable heat-resistant performance, is safe for human bodies, and can easily coat any site. SOLUTION: This heat-resistant coating comprises butyl rubber or isobutyl rubber and an inorganic filler. Therein, the coating has the characteristics of (1) to (4). (1) The Flory viscosity-average mol.wt. of the butyl rubber or the isobutyl rubber is 5,000-4,000,000. (2) The inorganic filler selected from the group consisting of neutralized thermally expansible graphite, metal carbonates, and water-containing inorganic substances is contained in an amount of 200-500 pts.wt. per 100 pts.wt. of the butyl rubber or the isobutyl rubber. (3) The inorganic filler contains at least 15-400 pts.wt. of the neutralized thermally expansible graphite. (4) The viscosity of the heat-resistant coating is 1-1,000 ps measured using a B type viscometer.
