PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new quinoline compound having excellent selectivity to muscarine M3 receptor, especially selectivity to muscarine M3 receptor of ileum, further having excellent selectivity to muscarine M3 receptor compared with muscarine M2 receptor and useful as a muscarine M3 receptor antagonistic agent. SOLUTION: The objective compound is expressed by formula I (R is A-W-B or a 5-10C alkenyl; A is a lower alkylene; W is none or O; B is a lower cycloalkyl, phenyl which may contain one or more substituents on the ring or the like), e.g. (+)-3-[(S)-1-phenethylpyrrolidin-3-yl]-3-phenyl-3,4-dihydro-1H- quinolin-2-one. The compound of formula I can be produced e.g. by reacting a compound of formula III synthesizable from a compound of formula II with a compound of the formula R-Y (Y is an eliminable group) (e.g. phenethyl tosylate) in an organic solvent such as acetonitrile in the presence of a base such as potassium carbonate.
