PURPOSE: A telephone having a function of selecting transmitters is provided to select receiving signals by detecting transmitter identifications(IDs) among the signals received through an office line or a mobile communication exchange network, to output a unique ring signal on the basis of the detected transmitter IDs. CONSTITUTION: A public switched telephone network(PSTN) transmits transmitter identifications(IDs) with ring signals for optional transmitters. A telephone having a function of selecting transmitters in the PSTN comprises a transmitter ID detector(6), a ring signal generator(11), a keypad(14), a transmitter ID storage(3), a ring signal selector(4), a ring signal detector(5), and a micro processor(1). The transmitter ID detector detects a transmitter ID received through an office line. The ring signal generator outputs a ring signal inputted from the ring signal selector. The keypad inputs the transmitter ID required by a user. The transmitter ID storage stores the inputted transmitter ID. The ring signal detector detects the ring signal inputted through the office line. The micro processor compares the transmitter ID detected by the transmitter ID detector with the transmitter ID stored in the transmitter ID storage, and controls the ring signal selector on the basis of the compared result.
