PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an interleaver where number of memory buffers in its storage device can be reduced, an interleaving method using it, a transmitter with it, a de-interleaver, a de-interleaving method using it, and a de-interleaver using it. SOLUTION: An address table generating section 1 is provided with an address pattern memory 14 that stores row data bit group A(i) (i=0, 2, 4, 1, 3, 5) and a column data bit group B(j) (j=0, 2, 1, 3). The integer (i) above is a quotient resulting from dividing a data bit at an address (k) by k/4 and an integer (j) above is a residue resulting from dividing the data bit at the address (k) by k/4. The address table generating section is also provided with two counters 11-1, 11-2, a multiplexer 12 that obtains the integers (i, j) corresponding to the data bit at the address (k), and an adder 15 that sums A(i) and a B(j)×6 outputted from the address pattern memory 14 to obtain address information R(k).
