PURPOSE: A triggering measurement process for evaluating the quality of audio and/or speech signal is provided to trigger accurately measurement process for evaluating the quality of audio and/or speech signal. A triggering device is composed of a first storage device storing the digital values of the reference signal underlying at least part of the test signal whose quality is to be evaluated and a second storage device determining the degree to which a section of the reference signal values coincides with the test signal values and a trigger device a triggering the measurement process as soon as a predetermined degree of coincidences is exceeded.
