PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To establish a detecting method capable of reliably detecting.a mark added for the indication of an anomalous point by forming a mark by applying marking material to an anomalous part, receiving reflected light from the mark, and specifying the anomalous part. SOLUTION: A pilot hole counter circuit 10 detects pilot holes 2 by a sensor 4, counts their number, and outputs a signal to a hole discriminating circuit 11 at the time when the counted number reaches a set value. An intermittent hole verifying circuit 12 detects intermittent holes 3 by a sensor 5 and outputs the result of the verification to the hole discriminating circuit 11. The hole discriminating circuit 11 discriminates whether an intermittent hole 3 is formed every time a predetermined number of pilot holes 2 are formed or not on the basis of the signals form the counter circuit 10 and the verifying circuit 12, and it activates an alarm 8 and stops the line in the case that it is not. A color distinguishing circuit 14 detects a purple mark 9 applied to a lead frame 1 for indicating an anomalous point detected in a manufacturing process by sensors 6a-6c, activates the alarm 8, and stops the line.
