PURPOSE: An electroluminescent element and devices are provided so that red electrofluorescent elements have high electrical energy utilization efficiency and outstanding color purity and are employed in fields requiring the use of, for example, display devices, flat panel displays, back lights, illumination, interior lighting, markers, signs, electronic cameras and optical signal generators. CONSTITUTION: In an electroluminescent element, a luminescent substance is present between an anode and cathode, and the electroluminescent element emits light of peak wavelength at least 580nm by means of electrical energy. The substance which brings about luminescence contains at least a fluorescent compound of fluorescence maximum 540nm or above and a compound with a pyrromethene structure or metal complex.
