PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas discharge tube projecting multiple lines of light with the same quality, and an optical device to which the gas discharge tube is applied. SOLUTION: A gas discharge tube enables to obtain two or more lines of light flux directing in the same direction, and to produce two or more lines of highly versatile and high quality light easily and infallibly. The sum of opening areas is maintained large to ensure stable start of discharge even when the opening areas of individual focusing openings 40 are reduced. Thus, this constitution minimizes individual focusing openings 40 positively to promote concentration of individual lines of light flux and to increase the lamp lighting capability simultaneously.
