PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To use either one of the subject compounds in pharmaceutical compositions, food materials and feed complements in order to raise feed conversion efficiency. SOLUTION: The compound, a tocotrienol or tocotrienol-like compound [pref. 3,4-dihydro-2-(4,8,12-trimethyltrideca-3'(E),7'(E),11'-trienyl)-2H-1-b enzopyran-6-ol, or the like] is used in order to raise feed conversion efficiency, thereby conversion efficiency of a feed to proteins becomes greater than that of the feed to fat. This compound is afforded, for example, from e.g. plant supply sources such as rice bran, and is useful in treating or preventing such diseases as hypercholesterolemia-related diseases, thrombosis and atheromatous diseases. When this compound is to be used in a pharmaceutical composition, its daily dose is pref. about 1-1,000 mg. |
